Fall Events at the Farm Park

The Farm Park has been abuzz with events the past few weeks! On October 30th we hosted “Fall Family Day” complete with pumpkin painting, Halloween costumes, haunting decorations and delicious snacks! (Thank you to Blick for donating paint for the pumpkins!)

One of the highlights of the afternoon was a special “scary” story time led by West Oakland Library’s Children’s Librarian, Rebecca Highland. (Laughter and shrieks could be heard all across the Farm!)

On November 6th, we hosted “Autumn’s Eve at the Farm Park,” an intimate fundraiser that also celebrated the cooler season and fostered connection and inspiration among our supporters. Oakland Public Conservatory of Music‘s youth jazz ensemble, led by renowned Bay Area musician Terrence Brewer, performed, and we enjoyed a delicious dinner prepared by holistic health coach and chef Laurie Alessandra (with a special shout out to Red Door Catering, Ghost Town Brewing and all of our Silent Auction donors!) The evening was filled with live music, farm tours, a generous silent auction, lawn games and a special speaking program. Not to mention the alluring aroma of warm apple cider!

Oakland’s District 3 Councilmember, and former Backyard Garden member, Caroll Fife wasn’t able to attend but shared the following heartfelt video in her place. Thank you so much for your continued support, Councilmember Fife, and for your tireless advocacy for community health and wellness!

Thank you to all of our attendees and visitors! It was so great to see the Farm Park transformed into a fun, scary-silly space for children and families, and then a beautiful, twinkle-lighted dining and dancing space. We are looking forward to hosting even more events in 2022!

Didn’t get a chance to join us at Autumn’s Eve but want to support City Slicker Farms’ food justice and access work? You can give a one-time donation or join our Circle of Support! We also still have some City Slicker Farms’ blankets available for purchase for $30.

And finally, a big thank you to our sponsors, Whole Foods and Cass, Inc.! Thank you for helping make these events a success.
