City Slicker Farms stands in solidarity with the millions who are taking to the streets in protest against the state sanctioned murder and systemic oppression of Black people. We condemn police brutality, and we grieve for the lives lost to racial inequality.
We believe that anti-racism, dismantling white privilege, and de-centering whiteness are integral to our mission of food justice, but City Slicker Farms has often fallen short of centering the Black community in our leadership, hiring and work.
As a primarily white-led organization, we renew our commitment to ongoing power and privilege training for our staff and board, and succession planning to transfer leadership to people of color.
We commit our resources and space to support and celebrate African American life, culture, organizations and businesses.
As West Oakland and the Bay Area gentrify, we commit to challenging our new, primarily non-Black neighbors to align themselves with anti-racist values.
