The Social Media & Communications Assistant will expand organizational communications and social media to more effectively engage community members and cultivate new volunteers, donors and community partners. This role will use their creativity to create a cohesive aesthetic to our outreach, communication and educational materials and help us better tell the story of our impact and the issues facing the community. Duties include coordinating online communications, such as social media, blogs and annual reports; creating infographics, flyers and site signage; and creating and implementing translation policies to make sure we are reaching our entire community.
The Programs Assistant will support our current programs and also help research and develop our youth programming. This person will help identify and support volunteer engagement in our Backyard Garden and Farm to Fridge programs, including recruitment, management and documentation. The Programs Assistant will also meet regularly with our Community Council to get feedback on CSF programming and help increase community engagement in our programs. This role will work with staff to review our previous youth programming along with best practices in the fields of food justice education, environmental justice education, youth development, and workforce development to make recommendations for current field trip curriculum and future youth programming. They will research, identify and apply to relevant funding opportunities and help connect CSF with funders and officials to support long-term program sustainability.
Members serving in the AmeriCorps VISTA program serve full time for one-year terms. They build capacity in nonprofit organizations and public agencies to help them more effectively generate the commitment of private sector resources, encourage volunteer service at the local level, and empower individuals and communities.
Members receive a modest bi-weekly living allowance to cover basic expenses. The current stipend rate for the year is $24,981.
Members have the opportunity to attend in-person and virtual training to learn how to be a community development change agent.
AmeriCorps VISTA is the only AmeriCorps program that allows members to earn federal non-competitive eligibility, giving members an edge in the federal hiring process.
Members can choose between a Segal Education Award (valued at approximately $6,000) to pay for a range of education expenses or a $1,800 cash stipend.
