Interview inquiry?
Informational Interviews:
Due to the high amount of requests we receive, we are unable to accommodate informational interviews.
Research Interviews:
Due to the high amount of research requests we receive, we are unable to accommodate undergraduate research interviews. At this time, we have prioritized graduate research that reflects our current needs. If you are a graduate student who would like to request a research interview, please send us a summary of your research so that we can determine if it aligns well with our needs and is within our capacity: what is the specific focus, where might it be published, etc.

Survey request?
We receive many requests throughout the year to survey our participants. At this time we have decided not to accept requests to survey our participants from external individuals or groups. City Slicker Farms surveys our program participants--both our Backyard Gardeners and our Farm Stand customers--annually in order to compile demographic data and improve our programs. We limit our interviews to this once-a-year period in order to ensure that our participants feel as comfortable as possible.
You can see the results of our surveys in our annual reports, all available for download on our website.
Other ways to learn about our work:
A couple great ways to learn more about what we do are taking a tour or volunteering at one of our Community Market Farms or Backyard Garden Builds. Volunteer hours are not a space to ask a list of research questions, but they are a great way to experience hands-on the work we do.
As mentioned above, our annual reports are a great resource for learning about our work. They are all available for download on our website.
Additionally, I would like to pass on some resources that others have found useful:
1) Healthy Food Within Reach: Helping Bay Area Residents Find, Afford and Choose Healthy Food, a 2015 report by SPUR.
2) Assessing the Potential Contribution of Vacant Land to Urban Vegetable Production and Consumption in Oakland, California, a 2013 report by Nathan McClintock of Portland State University, Jenny Cooper University of California - Berkeley, and Snehee Khandeshi University of California - Berkeley.
3) A Food Systems Assessment for Oakland, CA: Toward a Sustainable Food Plan, a 2006 study done by the Oakland Mayor's Office of Sustainability, and UC Berkeley's Department of City and Regional Planning, featuring City Slicker Farms.
