Consulting Services

In 2008, City Slicker Farms took an important step in scaling up urban agriculture by creating consulting services to replicate our food justice programs.  We receive many requests from the Bay Area and beyond to bring our programs to communities with similar food access issues. This demonstrates that our strategy is a recognized solution for increasing access to local, organic, healthy food. While City Slicker Farms strategically focuses on growing food in and for West Oakland, we are responding to these requests by providing technical assistance with our fee-based consulting program to help other communities replicate our programs.  This effort is being led by our Founder and Board Member, Willow Rosenthal.  In 2008 and 2009, she provided technical assistance to the San Francisco Victory Gardens 2008+,  Program Treasure Island Job Corps Center, the Jack London Marketplace, and the Progressive Jewish Alliance.  City Slicker Farms staff also worked with Ana Rasmussen to replicate our Backyard Garden Program in Santa Cruz.

If you are interested in our consulting services, please contact Willow Rosenthal at willow [at] cityslickerfarms [dot] org.

"I’m truly thankful that we were fortunate enough to partner with City Slicker Farms for the planning and development of our urban farm. When we first conceptualized creating a farm on an open acre of land we didn’t know where to begin. With the help of their consulting services our project quickly gained traction and came to fruition. In the end, we were awarded $187,000 from the Department of Labor for our proposal. Thank you City Slicker Farms for making our dream become a reality!"
-John Bjerke, Treasure Island Job Corps Center

"Victory Gardens 2008+ was inspired by City Slicker Farm's successful Backyard Garden Program. They provided tremendous support through professional consulting and logistical support to get our programs up and running.  If you want to start a thriving community-based urban farming and gardening program, look no further than City Slicker Farms."  –John Bela, Victory Gardens 2008+
